Participate in a Clinical Study

Participate in a Study

After medications are thoroughly tested and researched in laboratories, the next step is a Phase 1 study to carefully test them on human volunteers. This is done to ensure that a new drug or device is safe, or to compare two or more different treatments and to determine which works best. When you volunteer, you will be given complete information about the type of study, the duration and exactly what your participation will involve.

Who May Participate
In most cases, participants are normally healthy men and women who are not taking prescription medications. Sometimes, we seek research participants who meet specific age or gender requirements, or who have a certain medical condition, such as diabetes, kidney failure, or rheumatoid arthritis. The physicians conducting the study will review your medical history and the study requirements to determine whether you can participate. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
